Single touch payroll – what you need to know.

What is it?
Single Touch Payroll is a new reporting method for payments such as salaries, wages, pay as you go (PAYG) withholding and super information.   

Do I have to use it?
If you employ staff, yes you do. The ATO has stipulated that you may need to update your accounting, business management or payroll software to report through Single Touch Payroll. You can contact your software provider to ensure you have this capability.

When will it be launched?
The requirement for Single Touch Payroll to be used as your reporting method is proposed to begin on 1 July 2018 for employers with 20 or more employees.

For those of you with 19 or less employees, you will be required to use Single Touch Payroll from 1 July 2019.
