Following the announcement that Australian businesses will no longer be able to apply surcharges to payments made via Eftpos, Visa, Mastercard and American Express, the ATO will stop accepting credit cards as a payment method after 30 June 2027.
Alternative payment options for taxpayers are outlined on the ATO website.
We recommend contacting the ATO to update your payment method if you currently pay the ATO via credit card. If you are on a payment plan with the ATO, you can follow the ATO’s guidance on managing your payment plan.
