Cedric Carr was awarded the prestigious honour of the Order of Australia on Sunday 26 January for service to the community of Geelong, and to accountancy. As a founder of West Carr & Harvey, Cedric (now retired) has spent a lifetime committed to the region.

Director of West Carr & Harvey, Justin O’Brien said the award is a well-deserved recognition of his efforts for the firm, and Geelong. “Cedric has achieved a great deal for our community and our firm. He has always been committed to achieving the best results for his clients and has contributed countless hours of pro bono work to local charities.”

Cedric Carr’s son, Richard Carr is now the Managing Director of West Carr & Harvey and is proud of his father’s legacy. “From my earliest memory of him, he was committed to providing the best; to his family, his profession, his firm and his community. It is that legacy that I continue to endeavour to follow.” Said Richard.

“He championed professionalism in accounting and as a result held himself to incredibly high standards. He donated his time to contribute to, and promote the importance of professional development and ongoing education in the field.” Richard said.
The success of many Geelong businesses and charities were achieved with the assistance of Cedric Carr’s business leadership. He was a founding member and treasurer for 35 years of Geelong’s first ever child care centre, “Geelong and District Day Nursery” now known as “Geelong Children’s Centre.”

He volunteered his time on several boards and committees and was president of Geelong West Rotary Club, Council president of Geelong West Technical School, and member of Moorabool Housing Society to name a few.

Geelong community leader and close friend Jim Cousins also strongly supported the recognition this award afforded.
“Cedric Carr has been a dedicated professional and generous community member in the Geelong region for many years. The inception of many charities and businesses are attributed to Cedric's business nous. I congratulate him on this worthy acknowledgement of his life-long efforts.” Said Jim Cousins AO.

West Carr & Harvey now has five directors including Richard Carr, Justin O’Brien, Jason McGann, Tim Noonan and David McDonald.
