Non-ASIC notices being sent to businesses

We are aware of an increase in official‑looking notices being sent to Australian businesses that reference ASIC‑related obligations. These notices are not issued by ASIC, and they are not ASIC invoices. West Carr & Harvey already provide ASIC agent services for most company clients.

These notices commonly relate to:

  • Annual company reviews
  • Business name renewals
  • ASIC registry updates

Some of these notices are sent by independent third‑party service providers who offer to lodge or manage ASIC obligations on behalf of businesses. While these providers may be operating lawfully, their notices can closely resemble invoices and may include payment options such as QR codes or credit card facilities.

Typically, a disclaimer appears at the bottom of the notice stating that:

  • the sender is a third‑party service provider,
  • the service is independent of ASIC, and
  • the notice is not an ASIC bill.

Please see below a redacted example.

What to do if you receive one:

If you receive a notice of this nature and are unsure whether:

  • it has been issued by ASIC
  • it is an invoice requiring payment
  • you should take any action

please contact us. We are happy to review the notice and guide you on the appropriate next steps based on your circumstances.

If you have any questions or concerns about this matter, please feel free to contact us.
