What’s the right software for your business?

There are two major software providers in the accounting sphere and these are Xero and MYOB. Both are excellent options for your business and our team can assist you in setting up and establishing either software as best suits you.

Both offer cloud (internet) based systems and will be capable of providing you with the ability to securely store your data and process your payroll, reporting and invoicing.

So, which to choose? There are some subtle differences which we will outline here:

MYOB
MYOB has been around since before the original Top Gun was released, and just like the movie, it’s also had recent updates, transforming from the pre-internet era to the progressive cloud-based option. It has two products available, MYOB AccountRight and MYOB Essentials. AccountRight is the original version which needs to be downloaded to your PC and Essentials is their online version.

For large businesses, MYOB offers an unlimited payroll option meaning you can cater to over 200 staff.

MYOB also offers phone support in addition to online support.

Xero
Xero was established during arguably Justin Timberlake’s peak period of 2006. Being released in the post internet era means that it was originally developed as cloud based software. Because of this Xero possibly has more of an online presence in its support mechanisms with a higher social media following and online support forums.

Xero does not however, offer phone support, and its payroll system will not cater to large businesses which employ over 200 staff.

The findings?
Both options will meet the majority of your accounting needs. Your choice of software will depend on the technology and associated processes that suits you best, including the relevant add on applications required. If you’re unsure, feel free to contact us and we can assist you to make the best decision for you and your business.
