Which apps work best for your business?

Of course, it’s a matter of opinion but we’ve spent some time (in fact, quite a bit) working with a range of accounting applications, so we’d like to give you our recommendations for which apps we’ve found work best.

First and foremost, the right applications for you and your business often depend on your industry and software.

Some of the best applications we’ve worked with include:

Trade software applications
ServiceM8 is a preferred application for many tradespeople which is compatible with QuickBooks, Xero and MYOB. It manages the end-to-end job process, allowing you and your staff to quote and invoice on site, record notes, accept and process payments and more. We work with many tradespeople who use ServiceM8 and find it a great asset to their business.

Tradify is another popular option for many tradespeople. It also connects to Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB and offers a range of options to help manage jobs and payments. It features services for quoting, estimating, invoicing, job tracking and much more. We also work with many tradespeople who use Tradify and have found it makes their business processes more efficient.

Inventory management applications
Unleashed is a popular option for many businesses to manage their inventory. It offers automated reordering, simpler stock takes and functionality to plan and purchase for production runs. For the businesses we work with who hold stock, Unleashed has proven to be a welcome addition to streamline their processes. Unleashed is compatible with Xero and QuickBooks.

Cin7 is another inventory management application we have had experience with which has shown to improve business efficiencies. Cin7 provides a range of functions including order management, order automations and order fulfillment. There are two version of Cin 7. Cin7 Core and Cin7 Omni. Both are compatible with Xero and QuickBooks.

MYOB also offers a sophisticated inventory management feature as part of its suite which will integrate perfectly with your accounting requirements.

E-commerce application
A2X Accounting is an E-commerce app designed to integrate with online stores (such as shopify or etsy) and integrates with Xero and QuickBooks. This application is tried and tested for online selling summaries and settlements, making your online bookkeeping simpler and more efficient.

Receipt tracking applications
Dext (previously receipt bank) is a receipt and data tracking application helping to better manage your online bookkeeping through automated expense management, E-commerce automation, data insights and financial administration. Dext is compatible with Xero, MYOB, QuickBooks and ReckonOne.

Hubdoc is another great option for data and receipt capture. This application is now owned by Xero so there is no cost for business subscriptions if you are already working with Xero. It extracts key information from your receipts and invoices from simple photos and scanned documents, allowing you to easily track your financial data with minimal manual input. It is compatible with Xero and QuickBooks.

HR and rostering applications
Deputy is a smart staff management application, which assists you with many HR functions including scheduling, time tracking, shift planning and swapping, leave management and much more. It is compatible with MYOB and Xero.

Tanda is another great option for building rosters, sending shift schedules, tracking timesheets and connecting to payroll systems. It is compatible with MYOB, Xero and QuickBooks.

Reporting and cashflow applications
Spotlight is an application built for financial reporting, forecasting and performance tracking. It consolidates data and produces well-presented reports ideal for banking, accounting and business planning.  It can integrate with Xero, QuickBooks and MYOB.

Fathom is another fantastic option for reporting, analysis and cash flow forecasting. It also provides effective and well-presented automated management reports. It is compatible with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks.

Figured is a purpose-built application designed specifically for farmers. It offers a range of features for crops, livestock and dairy management such as tracking your growing season, keeping on top of births, deaths, sales purchases and aging of livestock and tracking milk production/updating forecasts with milk price changes. It allows you more time on-farm and streamlines your accounting tasks. Figured is compatible with Xero.
